Born in California,Raised in Texas and then Growing up in England. Henry Hill Holmes has lived the life of a troubadour since the beginning. Moving from California to Texas had its complications and problems but Henry found solace in and peace of mind in music. Growing up in Texas in the mid to late 80s music and partying became the norm on the weekends. Whilst house parties were the norm the music is what really embedded in his psyche. No matter what was going on music was always at the forefront. With bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival,Rolling Stones,AC/DC and Outlaw Country music such as Travis Tritt,Hank Williams Jr and Garth Brooks a constant in the background it was as if it was his destiny to play music but yet it was not apparent or definitive. Then along came Guns N Roses and N.W.A with their raw un apologetic lyrics and attitude sparking the first of many stories to come along in his music journey.
When asked if he could remember his first albums he bought and or first action that led him to peruse music this is what he had to say. “ Growing up in Dallas TX in the late 80s was crazy. I remember a friend of mine was going with his family to the mall to shop and just hangout and I got invited to go,I was probably 8-9. I went to the music store and bought Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction and N.W.A’s Straight out of Compton and could not wait to get home and listen to them to hear what was on them. Well on the way home we got to play one song from our new albums to which I was excited to listen to so not thinking anything of it I had them play appetite for destruction and what I didn’t realize is that the family I was with were super religious people, so when Welcome to the jungle played all of the sudden the cassette was ejected and I was told that it was not appropriate for me to listen to then I was berated for it to which I turned around and told the family to F-off as it was only music and what was the problem. Well when I got home they called my dad and needless to say he uncorked an old school ass whooping and I was told I was no longer allowed over to that house or welcome around my friend as I was a bad influence. That part I didn’t understand but that interaction did it for me.
I was like wow this album caused this much static and we only listened for a few minutes and this is what affect it had on people I was sold then and there, then rebellion kicked in and it was on after that.” Or so I thought. It was then off to England as my Dad had family their and his mom and he had to raise me so I think he thought this would be a good idea but later it was not so, but that’s another story from another time. However I had a friend of my fathers take me in under his wing and he showed me and introduced me to his music and playing instruments. My first instrument was a guitar but I found my first calling as a drummer and over a period of time I became quite good at it, enough so that I was playing in bands and making album's. I recorded my first real album at 13 with a band called “Makor” and had another blues band that was playing a lot of covers called “U Right Or Watt” over all I was living my dream as a musician.I was still in High school but I was playing in bands and in bars which put a dent in my schooling but I didn’t care I was all in on music and everyone knew it, some students and even some teachers knew I was playing in bands and bars but they didn’t really care as again that’s a story in and of itself for another time. I Did Graduate though.
Over the next few years I had my fair share of highlights and accolades but I also fell into substance abuse, alcohol and my relationship with my Dad was not in a place I cared for it to be. I moved back the the United States to live with my mom and maybe she was thinking I was coming home to live with her but as it worked out I ended up joining and serving in the Marine Corps and off I went at 17 and played Marine for a few years. After being honorabley discharged I got into Tattooing,Motorcycles and racing super hard corps for years, again having some success and achieving some cool accolades but that too eventually ran its course and came to an end. So when the time came to find a new direction and figure out what he was going to do in life because he still has time to pay his dues. It was music that came in through a minute crack and has now completely taken over. If you have read all this and still need more head to the Bio page as the history continues.
